Design as an alternative to the new opera in Amsterdam (at the time not yet built, presently the STOPERA).

The design was made after a proposal of Maurice Huisman previously intendant of the Dutch National Opera.
In 1964 he made the proposal for a travelling opera.

Partly in protest against the architecural designs for the present Stopera, this alternative design was made.
