Arcade construction toy (all)

The Arcade design was a construction toy that was inspired by the Playing Card house of Charles and Ray Eames.

The idea was to develop a 'card-like' piece that offered more features in terms of constructing imaginairy buildings, bridges, etc.

The challenge of the Origami principle is to use a rectangular piece of paper (or other flat material) to make 3D objects.
The Arcade design was punched and not a 'rectangular' piece of paper

My early acquaintance with Origami was during my Montessori primery school.

Arcade was originally made from paper. Later made from plastic.

44.000 pieces were sold to museum shops. (Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, i.a.)
