Esprit

The play Esprit by Margaret Edson is about a female professor in 17th-century poetry who is suffering from ovarian cancer. The actress Nettie Blanken insisted on playing the role because her mother had died of cancer. She had her head shaved bare. First one half for the poster, later the rest for the play. The thick red hair had to go, Blanken thought. She didn’t want a fake smooth skull!
