The motif of this Ikat is called Dikur (buffalo horn). This motif shows the importance of buffalo as a sacred animal in NTT rituals and ceremonies. Ikat with Dikur motif is worn during ceremonies, such as hair shaving ritual and the celebration of Indonesia’s Independence day, as well as for performing Likurai dance. Unlike the Dikur Rae Moas motif which is worn exclusively by the kings, this Dikur Ikat is worn by commoners and can be worn by both women and men.
